The new neighborhood to hit while in HK is definitely Kennedy Town, and while you are there, don’t forget to stop and wait a while for a table at Chino. This Japanese Mexican fusion restaurant has a menu that you will not forget! With the hippest crowd in town and some Keith Haring – esque graffiti on the wall, Chino is the place to be.
There bar serves up some potent Tequila mixes that will leave you begging for more, as your stumble out the door. There are few vegetarian options, but they are so good that you will not complain. Their range of salsas are a force to be reckoned with, perfect combinations such as Shiso, tomato, vinegar, and many more served with freshly fried corn tortilla chips. Delicious!
The corn on the cob with Cotija cheese and Kewpie (Japanese Mayo) added a twist to the beloved Mexican street food. We had the Mushroom, Mizuna (Japanese Mustard) and burnt Jalapeno dish, that was also amazing and the Avocado, black bean and Oaxaca cheese tacos that left us licking our fingers.
Each dish was a wonderful melody of flavors, bringing in hints of the east in robust flavors from the west. Don’t miss this one, and wait on line if you have to– cause they dont take reservations, and trust me, it is worth the wait!
