A small, cute, purple restaurant with limited tables inside, this place is vegetarian heaven. An all-vegan restaurant with delicious foods from across the world. They serve great food that is fresh and innovative, combining flavors from local and international cuisine. Located in the old town, this is a perfect stop to make during a day of sight seeing.
Nishta is Sanskrit for ‘elevated state of mind’ and after eating here you will definitely get there. This cozy restaurant has a funky decor with Barbie and Ken stuck on the bathroom doors to make gender distinctions. The tables are closely packed and you may be rubbing elbows with a fellow eater, but you won’t complain about it.
They menu is filled with interesting options, including vegan and and gluten-free options that are clearly demarcated. We ordered the ‘Pastalicious’ a noodle dish with peanut sauce and vegetables, a plate of Nachos with guacamole, beans and home made salsa, a dish of lentil pancakes with potatoes, mint chutney and apple chutney and the falafel. All the food was amazing! We did have to add a pinch of salt or some red pepper here and there, but that is entirely taste dependent. The Mint chutney was actually fantastic, fresh and delicious. They even have a fresh salad bar that you can help yourself to.
They dessert of the day at Nishta is one from the famed, but shuttered Sugar and Spice bakery. Don’t miss it, they are famous for a reason! We had the cherry and apple pie, and it was really good!
Nishta even has an outpost in Zagreb, if you miss it in Dubrovnik.
