The Arab version of the famed outpost in Monaco, Sass Cafe brings European luxury to Dubai. Located in DIFC, this is a great place for a meal, a nigh out, or even a crazy party brunch, Sass Cafe is great anytime of day. The menu is European inspired, with salads and pastas and some fantastic desserts. Sass Cafe even has a wonderful outdoor area, from which you can see the Burj Khalifa in all its glory.
I went to Sass Cafe for a Saturday brunch, towards the end of the meal, the curtains slowly came down and the volume of the music went up. The atmosphere changed from restaurant to night club in a span of 10 minutes. It was a really nice experience of ‘day clubbing’ (similar to Bagatelle or BeauMarchais in New York). Before we knew it, the staff had sparklers and the music was pumping, and we were dancing on table tops!
Before the table dancing, we did have a wonderful meal. While options were limited, the flavors were delicious and fresh. The Truffle Burrata was really good, it was served with delicious peaches. As was the rockett salad, super fresh and crunchy. The main course wasn’t as exciting – a truffle pasta and a penne Arabiatta, but that wasn’t too bad as the dessert more than made up for it.
All the desserts sounded so good, that we were unsure of what we should order. After much debate, we settled on the Chocolate cigar, Lemon Meringue tart and Cheesecake, and we were not sorry. All the desserts were absolutely fantastic. The chocolate cigar just melted in my mouth, the buttery filo pastry covering was absolutely divine. The cheese cake came with a delicious berry sorbet, that had the perfect mix of tang and sweetness. The lemon meringue pie was also just as good, with another fantastic sorbet to go with it. The dessert looked great, and tasted better! The made the perfect end to the meal, and a great headway to the partying that followed.
