Otto e Mezzo Bombana – Central, Hong Kong

Find yourself in Hong Kong during truffle season (Sept- Nov)? then head over to Otto e Mezzo Bombana, to taste the culinary delights of Chef Bombana. Umberto Bombana is rumored to have the first pick of the famed truffles from Alba, and consider yourself lucky if you get to eat them! But be prepared to open your wallet wide, truffles that are flown in daily from Italy, do not come cheap.

A perfect meal for an occasion, Otto e Mezzo Bombana boasts a large selection of the finest wines to accompany the finger licking food (but you probably wont lick your fingers in such a place). The options are limited, but each is fantastic! The waiters are generous with their truffle shavings, and you can never have enough of those. Since we went in truffle season, all our food was doused (halleluijah!) in truffles.

We had the Burrata Cheese Ravioli, Truffle Raviolo, Truffle Risotto and Truffle Spaghetti. The Truffle Raviolo with Ricotta cheese was definitely the best dish, every bite was a portal to truffle heaven and back, our only regret was that there wasn’t more on the plate. We unfortunately were not as enthralled by the Truffle Spaghetti, but all in all it was a wonderful meal! One that has been imprinted in our hearts, mouths and minds forever. The experience of having fresh truffle shaved at the table, is one that can never be replicated by any truffle oil, or dip, don’t miss out on this.

Like a perfect Italian meal, ours ended with an order of Tiramisu and ice cream with Truffle shavings. Beautifully deconstructed, like a piece of modern art, the Tiramisu was rich an scrumptious, the ice cream on the other hand was not our favorite, but a must try. The dessert made perfect ending to our truffle-some meal. Otto e Mezzo also has an outpost in Shanghai, incase you happen to be around.
