Are you a huge fan of garlic? Do you just not care how much your breath will stink after eating lots of garlic? (And hey, what are mints and gum for right?) If the answer to these questions is a yes, then there’s a restaurant you must eat at in Los Angeles, The Stinking Rose – a garlic restaurant! Every dish served in this restaurant is garlic based. Yum! This might not be the best place for a date though, if you know what I mean.
The Stinking Rose is an Italian restaurant with its own flair. When you walk in, you will feel like you’ve walked into a circus. Tables are set up with curtains and decor is pleasantly chaotic. LA is known for its crazies and this is just one of the many that fit right into this star studded city.
The menu had a fair number of veggie options, it had a lot of comfort food with dollops of garlic. We ate a largely Italian meal with great appetizers and a few pastas. The house served a plate of garlic bread, which I must say was delicious! We then had a garlic fondue, a roasted portobello mushroom dish and two pastas. A garlic pesto pasta and a garlic alio olio pasta. They tasted great and the extra addition of the roasted garlic in each of them was a great bonus.
We were just too full to eat dessert, but if you are feeling daring, try the garlic ice cream! The stinking rose also has an outpost in San Francisco, you may be able to sniff it out there if you don’t make it to the one in LA.
