V-Note is a casual-classy vegan restaurant located in Upper East Side Manhattan, NYC. You can come here by yourself for a mid-day lunch break or bring a date for an evening dinner. The lighting is nice, the decor is above average, service is great. Online reviews consistently give a rating of 8/10 or higher. Although I have been here only twice, I have been more than satisfied with this restaurant.Â

This is a vegan restaurant, which by default, caters to all appetites. Â For starters we ordered the cape cod cakes, which are a blend of hiziki seaweed, tofu, and herbs, served with a tartar sauce, and mushroom phyllo cigars, which are porcini + tempeh filled phyllo, cashew cream, silvered almonds, pomegranate seeds. Â Both were amazing dishes. Â The sauces for each dish, were unique and complimented the dish extremely well. Â We ended up scrapping the dishes to get every last drop of the sauce. Â The pomegranate seeds in the cigar added a nice tangy touch! Â For our entree we got pistachio & Pepper Dusted Tofu, which is Served over roasted root vegetable filled crepe, lemon truffle emulsion, toppped w/ frisee salad in a red beet vinaigrette. Â The was a decent dish, but it was a little bland and could have used some more flavor. Â For dessert we got the vegan cheese cake. Â Extremely tasty, enough said! Â Overall the menu is very unique and blends together some interesting flavors. Â It’s definitely a restaurant that we’d go back to to explore even more of the menu.
Starters range from $9-12. Entrees range from $18-22. Desserts range from $4-8. We did not order drinks. For two people, expect to pay $55-65 after tax + tip, excluding drinks.
For the more adventurous eaters/ drinkers, V-note has a wide range of “wine and beers, all of which are vegan, organic and/or bio-dynamic and in some cases even kosher”. I think, this is definitely worth a try.
